Sinead O’Brien + Pega

Sinead O'Brien doesn't particularly like the word 'cosy'. Just a few years ago, she lived in a 'cosy' apartment and her life was pretty settled. Something had to be done about that, so for a year she said yes to everything that was suggested to her. That kind of rebellion is also found in this Irish poet's spoken word post-punk. Even the description post-punk is perhaps a bit too limiting: in several of her songs you could rather refer to it as art-rock.

Her influences can be found in the sixties and seventies, with clappers such as Lou Reed and Patti Smith. During her live performances, she likes to play songs that are almost finished, seeking the final form of the songs in her interaction with the audience. An exciting expererience ahead!

Initially started as a modest attic project, then moved to a basement and then a bedroom, PEGA began with six women meeting on Sundays for a "mumusical" cleansing session. Now three remain: Juliette (bass and vocals), Bárbara (guitar, vocals; member of TUVALU) and Leslie (drums). In their own words, they make "Dino-post-punk and noise-rock straight out of an apartment ficus". Prestigious rock 'n roll guaranteed!
