Ruiskamer: Julia Reidy + asamisimasa

No reservation required. Click here to learn how to get in as a member.

Julia Reidy and asamisimasa will be performing live in MIRY Concert Hall.

Australia-born and Berlin-based musician Julia Reidy makes music from acoustic instruments (usually guitars). Their recent trilogy - 'Brace, Brace' (2019), 'In Real Life' (2019), and 'Vanish' (2020) - can be described as non-traditional song forms around unstable harmonies, combining rhythmic elasticity with an abstract sound narrative.

Norwegian ensemble asamisimasa was founded in 2001 by musicians Ellen Ugelvik (keyboards), Morten Barrikmo (clarinet and saxophone), Tanja Orning (cello), Håkon Stene (percussion), and Anders Førisdal (guitar). In MIRY, they will perform composer Laurence Crane's 'Sound of Horse', written especially for them. Just as smells evoke memories (think Marcel Proust's madeleines ), sounds can prompt associative feelings or images. Crane's music is a fertile breeding ground for such allusions. Performed by asamisimasa, his minimal scores invite you into a vibrant, imaginative world.
