Roger Ballen – The Theatre of the Ballenesque et Correspondances

New York-born, South Africa-based photographer Roger Ballen has tried to capture the human condition for over forty years. The Centrale dedicates two exhibitions to the artist: The Theatre of the Ballenesque and Correspondances, both fruit of Ballens exploration of the unconscious. In the second exhibition Ballens work interacts with that of Belgian artist Ronny Delrue. The former merges photographs, videos and installations to create a theatre of the absurd: the so-called ‘Ballenesque’.
