#6 Joëlle Dubois - Girl's club
Joëlle Dubois her work surfs between seriousness and irony. With a wink, she questions the digital revolution and the resulting role of people in our modern society in her paintings.

The artist from Ghent is mainly interested in the voyeuristic aspect of digitization. As a child she was obsessed with Japanese manga's and are therefore major catalysts in her artistic influence. The starting point of her work comes from both the immediate vicinity and the internet. Inspired by the continuous flow of photos and videos online, she tries to confront the viewer with explicit scenes from the private sphere. She wants to create more complex work and portray women who have more to offer than their sex appeal.
