The Sound Of Me

Jules Gahide

The sky magically clears up when we’re reading through LifeSnacks’ well-curated lineup. By bringing together a mix of old versus new and hard versus soft, Jules Gahide and the LifeSnacks team promise to induce ear to ear smiles in their green oasis on the 16th of June. You might know Jules as a part of the crew that tirelessly cultivates prime leisure concepts – like Amigo or FLY OVER – or even as Bafana behind the decks. All this made us endlessly curious about the music taste of the man himself. Only one way to quench that need: a solid Sound Of Me!

Selection by Jules Gahide

A song for waking up…

Don’t Send Me Away by Garfield Fleming. I’m about the worst person to get out of bed, even though I’m way more productive in the morning than late at night. Let’s go for something catchy to get the body going shall we.

A song that helps you focus when you’re working…

Little Red Hot Car by Squarepusher. Really depends on the kind of job I’m facing at the time, but this old Squarepusher cut always gets me in a state of ‘let’s go’!

A song for making out…

Baby by Donnie and Joe Emerson. How corny of me 🙂

A song for working out…

I Don’t Care by The Roots. Very cliché, but let’s go for something hip-hop orientated, I’m a BIG The Roots fan and this track always fills me up with energy! Bassline pumping!

A song for nostalgic moments…

The Narcissist by Dean Blunt. This song gets under my skin in a way I can’t express in words…

A song for going out…

We Are I.E. by Lennie De Ice. My ‘party anthems’ are constantly changing and depend so much on the mood and vibe, but for now I’d go for this one. Old school jungle with a LOT of rewinds 🙂

A song for relaxing…

Dreamcast by Liquid Deep. This always gets me in the right mood – feels like summer and has the perfect tempo for maximum chilling!

A song that makes you sad…

Hollow Talk by Choir Of Young Believers. Flashback to Submarino, the great Thomas Vinterberg movie that always gets real deep under my skin.

A song for on the road…

More Than You Can Wish by Harlem Gem. This with the sun going down and great company… The ride could just last for ever. Super catchy vocal over a timeless wavey/house vibe.

A song for courage…

Jasmine by Jai Paul. A rollercoaster of emotions, but I always end up with the same feeling: let’s pick it up and try again.
