Filmmaker and photographer Marine Dricot has recently focused on making video clips for bands including Odezenne, Girls in Hawaii and Robbing Millions. A quick glance at her work reveals a perfect fusion of appealing objects and unsettling images, which unite to transport the viewer to a unique, dream-like world. Her efforts go well beyond the construction of intriguing-but-beautiful universes, however: she always strives to add an explanatory level to a song with her imagery. With music guiding her creativity, Dricot enjoys exploring the dark sides of humankind while breaking down the myth of the modern American dream.
When I work on a music video, I always put myself in the shoes of someone who doesn’t like the song, and try to find a way to intrigue him enough to watch the clip to the end
Marine is playing Fortune Collective festival, 1 and 2 of July, at Le Brass, Brussels, and the festival is free for Subbacultcha members. Become one here.
